Katheryn Opal Holland Bryant, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
She was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Summersville, daughter Oran Harrison and Edna Lee Vance Holland. She and Wayne Perry Bryant were married in 1948.
She became a member of the Summersville First Baptist Church on Aug. 1, 1948 . She was the church pianist for many years and often played and sang specials. She was an adult women’s Sunday school teacher, Girl Auxillary (GA’s) leader and worked in vacation bible school. She loved her church and her church family.
She began teaching on Aug. 6, 1945, at the age of 17. She retired in 1989 after more than 36 years in education.
She then opened Merry Go Round Day Care Center with her daughter, Kathy, and daughter-in-law, Tammy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; and infant great-grandson.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Bryant of the home in Summersville; three children, Terry Bryant, Kathy Berry and Mark Bryant; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean McAdams; a niece; two nephews; and a host of other family members.
Services were Monday, June 6, at First Baptist Church in Summersville with the Rev. Jerry Baylock and the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
