Already running a successful law practice in Houston and Waynesville and already having released two contemporary Christian music albums, Kimberly Lowe will soon have her first book released.
Titled “Essential Faith,” Lowe’s devotional book will be available beginning June 28.
“The goal is for people to be equipped to know God,” Lowe said. “I feel like when we find God, we find the best part of who we are. Why wouldn’t we want to share that with people?”
“Essential Faith” appears with the author’s name as “Malachi,” and is published by Malachi Publishers LLC, which was founded by Lowe.
“There are people who know me who will obviously know I wrote it,” Lowe said, “and there’s a wider audience who don’t know me who won’t be connected to a female author they know, and the name Malachi is a nice generic name. I have no desire to get credit for writing this, but if I want to make a difference in this community, I think it’s good for the local people to know where it’s coming from.”
The idea of producing a book stemmed from Lowe sharing daily devotions with people close to her.
“When I decided to start seeking God more and give up my own way, I began to spend about 10 minutes with Him every day,” she said. “I was committed to that and nothing was going to keep it from happening – it was non-displaced time, kind of like eating. It kept expanding to where it was more like an hour, and I realized how much it was transforming me.
“I thought, ‘my kids need to hear what I’m learning,’ so I started summarizing what I had learned and texting it them.”
Lowe’s kids then asked for the texts to be sent to friends of theirs, and she also began sharing her writings with clients and other acquaintances.
“It got to be about 200 people a day,” Lowe said. “Some started saying I should put it in a book, and I was like, ‘that makes sense.’”
“Essential Faith” features illustrations by Houston sixth-graders Lily Johnson and Katie Jo Chipps. Copies will be available on Amazon.com in both hard copy and Kindle versions, and hard copies will also be stocked in Lowe’s offices in Houston and Waynesville.
Lowe said she plans to have an audio version available in the future. She has already written her second book and about half of a third.
“What that is is a miracle,” Lowe said. “It’s all God. I’m not extraordinary; the key is that God can make any ordinary person do extraordinary things.”
