Micheal Bert James, 68, son of Maurice B and Ruby (Crawford) James, was born Sept. 22, 1947, in Waynesville, Mo. He passed away June 11, 2016, at his home after a battle with cancer.
Mike was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Maurice E (Maury) James.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline of Houston, Mo.; a son, Matthew James of Columbia, Mo.; a daughter, Jennifer Maddox and husband, Josh, of Houston, Mo.; a granddaughter, Genevieve; his mother, Ruby James of Houston, Mo.; a brother, Terry James and wife, Janice, of Conway, Ark.; a sister, Lola Stringer and husband, Bill, of Columbia, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Linda James of Houston, Mo.; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
Mike grew up in the Houston area and graduated from Houston High School in 1965. He attended M.U. at Columbia and graduated with a bachelor degree in business agriculture. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years in security service. He married the love of his life, Jacqueline Wells, in 1976 and to this union one son and one daughter were born.
Mike was a member of the United Methodist Church, Houston, Mo.
He worked for Wilson Foods as a credit manager until he returned to Houston for the remainder of his life.
Mikes hobbies included woodworking, sports and outings to Flat Rock.
Mike was a stranger to no one and enjoyed visiting with all. If he went to any gatherings, he was usually the last to leave! He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Evans Funeral Home with Charles Ferguson officiating. Per his wishes, he was cremated under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
