Lois Waneta Carter, 67, died July 19, 2016, in her home in Houston, Mo.
Lois was born Aug. 23, 1948, in Cabool, Mo., to Melvin and Waneta (Elmore) Armstrong. She married Danny Lee Carter on Feb. 4, 1967, and had four children, Don, Brent, Deneta and Melena.
Lois was a strong Christian woman who loved God and everything he offered. She taught many children in Sunday school over the years and became known as “Mrs. Lois” by all the children. She wanted everyone to love the Lord and be close to him.
Lois wanted so badly to go home from the hospital. Her family took her home and spent the evening celebrating a late Fourth of July party, her favorite holiday. Her last days in the hospital were spent visiting her brother Luie, sister Reva, her nieces and nephews and seeing her very special aunt, Susie (Armstrong) Bruce and cousins, Susie Ann Carroll and Lynn Armstrong. Lois was so happy to see her aunt and cousins before her death. She was grateful that Lynn spent time cutting her hair at the hospital, a memory that will be cherished by her husband and children.
Lois enjoyed gardening, gospel music, garage sales and attending church. She will be remembered by her driftwood flowerbeds and her grapevine wreaths that she made. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed her grandchildren and her grand dogs, Rocky and Bella. She loved feeding her stray cat that always came to the house daily.
Lois is survived by her husband of 49 years, Danny Lee Carter; her children, Don Carter and wife, Marie, of Springfield, Mo., Brent Carter of Houston, Mo., Deneta Nichols and husband, Brad, of Republic, Mo., and Melena Carter of St. Louis, Mo.; her siblings, Luie Armstrong and Reva Goodman of Neosho, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Carter and wife, Dessa, Emilee Brown and husband, Matt, Mikaela, Adrieanna, Abigail, Cole, Aidan, Megan, Kody and Libbie; four great–grandchildren, Bradley, Brooklyn, Kinsley and Joseph; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; stepfather, Elmer Goodman; and one great- granddaughter, Addison.
Services are Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Houston First Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Delcour and Don Carter officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Joshua Carter, Cole Nichols, Kody Carter, Tom Carter, Bobby Goodman, Lynn Armstrong and Aidan Nichols.
