Oscar Eugene Sutton, 61, son of Oscar Gerald and Delores (Simon) Sutton, was born June 27, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo. He passed away July 27, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Mo.
He grew up in the Ellis Prairie area and attended school in Houston and Platte City. Oscar was saved and baptized at a young age and attended the Baptist Church as his health permitted.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Spurlock.
He is survived by his wife, Dana, of the home in Ozark, Mo.; his children, Oscar Sutton and Misty Gragg of Mountain Grove, Mo., Doug Sutton and Elicia of Springfield, Mo., Kevin Sutton of Nixa, Mo., Tony Sutton and Chanda of Everton, Mo., Jason Sutton of Tennessee, Tim Sullins and Dana Voss of Springfield, Mo., Bobbie Porter and Phillip of Licking, Mo., and Carolyn Kuenzel and Mike of Johnson City, Tenn.; stepdaughters, Billie Alkire of Houston, Mo., Ericka Bettes of Ozark, Mo., and Beverly (Willie) Chestine of Ozark, Mo.; two brothers, Danny Sutton of Mansfield, Mo., and Tom Sutton of Success, Mo.; 28 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Oscar owned and operated Sutton Roofing and worked in and around this area for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating on the lake, camping, motorcycle riding, tinkering on vehicles and playing poker. He was known for having the best poker face. His greatest joy unless he was working was spending time and enjoying his family.
Oscar will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services are Saturday, July 30, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Swearingin officiating. Burial was in Ellis Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers were Oscar E. Sutton, Doug Sutton, Kevin Sutton, Tony Sutton, Oscar G. Sutton, and Tim Sullins.
