Two Plato High School baseball players are among 40 regional players selected to play in the 2016 Abou Ben Adhem (ABA) Shrine Mosque Preservation Baseball Showcase.
Conner Hathaway, a pitcher and first baseman, and Wiley Miller, a pitcher and infielder, will play for the East in the July 16 game at Hammons Field in Springfield. Their teammates include two players — Ayden Henry and Landon Tyler of Thayer — from the South Central Association.
Close to 90 ABA area coaches were contacted to recommend players for the showcase. The East and West teams were then created.
The game is an opportunity for 15-18 year old baseball players to showcase their talents to college and professional scouts while raising money for the Shrine Mosque Preservation Association.
