Robert Jon Drake, age 66, passed from this world July 23, 2016. He was born in Watertown, SD on February 9, 1950 to Ralph and Beryl (Marquardt) Drake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph Drake, Jr.; his grandparents, Bert and Mary Drake and Carl and Loretta Marquardt; and step-grandmother, Adeline Marquardt.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Smith) Drake and two children, Sara Beth Drake and Gary Alexander Drake of the home; one brother, Steve Drake and wife, Patsy, of Solo, Mo.; and two nieces and four nephews.

Jon lived in South Dakota until he was 11 years old, when the family moved to Solo, Mo. He graduated from Houston High School in 1968. He spent two years in the merchant marines on the coal boats on the great lakes.

Jon bought a farm at Elk Creek, Mo., where he lived until his passing. He worked for Mid-Am Dairy for over 30 years, retiring in 2003. While he was attending high school, he worked for his parents at the Solo General Store and Post Office and also at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, reading outdoor magazines and collecting coins and money. Some of his most enjoyable times were spent visiting with friends and family, watching TV and eating.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Erin McConnell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Drake, Steve Drake, Rhett Drake, Chance Drake, Parrish Drake and Lyndon Dodson.
