A 4-year-old boy drowned Saturday in southern Texas County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Kayden Smith of Willow Springs was found unresponsive face down at about 4:15 p.m. in the south fork of the Jacks Fork River at Stillhouse Road, said Sgt. J.A. Cravens of the patrol.
Kayden was later pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital in Mountain View. He had not been wearing a safety device, the patrol.
Assisting at the scene were Sgt. B.D. Foster and the Texas County Sheriffs Department.
