GAMMA PHI CHAPTER
The Gamma Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met July 9 at Pizza Americana in Willow Springs to plan the upcoming year programs. The Gamma Phi chapter has 40 members from several area schools.
The Delta Kappa Gamma International project for this year is helping beginning teachers. The state theme for this year is “Honoring our Heritage — Engaging our Future.” President Mary Jane Lybyer encouraged members to develop a way to encourage teachers in area schools.
The theme for the new program year is “Old Hats, New Tricks” suggested by Mindy Pinckney. Members from each area school selected a month to present a program. Each group discussed creating a program relating to the themes. Gamma Phi raises money for a grant-in-aid scholarship for senior high school women interested in pursuing an education degree.
Members from Houston are Elaine Campbell, Sherry Gatlin, Mary Jane Lybyer, Diane Moore, Wilda McNiell, Judy Rouse, Vivian Stilley, Mary Stottlemyre, Maygen Ward, Terisa Ward and Dara Jackson.
