The Sustainable Ozarks Partnership’s fourth annual meeting is 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 pm. Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Ark Community and Sports Center in Waynesville. All regional citizens are invited.

“We are very excited for this year’s meeting, specifically because we will be celebrating the region’s recent Great American Defense Communities award, as well as strengthening our plan for the region’s future,” said Kent Thomas, SOP executive director.

The meeting will kick off with several speakers, including Mike Cooper, president of the Association of Defense Communities. He will provide an overview of what other defense communities around the country are doing to support their installations. Additional speakers will provide insight into local and state level actions, as well.

As in years past, the SOP’s annual meeting will offer the opportunity for attendees to learn about and discuss several regional quality of life issues, including healthcare, transportation, education and military affairs.

There is no cost for the meeting, and all attendees will receive a free boxed lunch. Spots must be reserved by calling 573-329-8500 or registering online at https://2016sopannualmeeting.hscampaigns.com/.

The Sustainable Ozarks Partnership is building on the Fort Leonard Wood Region’s strong past and preparing the region for a healthy, resilient future. It is a nonprofit organization working to bring all of the region’s stakeholders to the table to drive regional development and advocate for new or expanded military and federal missions, all as part of an effort to strengthen the Fort Leonard Wood region.
