Ida Pearl Romo, 83, of Buckner, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016 at her home.

She was born May 2, 1933, in Huggins, daughter of Oliver P.M. and Ethel P. Zirschky Leighty.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, yard work, birds and nature. She adored her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steve Harris; a sister, Blanche Kephart; and three brothers, Alvin, John, and Chris.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Richard Romo of the home; two sons, Odis Harris of Whitewright, Texas, and John Galloway of Cuba, Mo.; a daughter, Rhonda Pinkelmann of Kansas; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ina Gillespie of North Kansas City and Effie Nichols of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were Saturday, Aug. 27, at New Salem Funeral Home in Independence.
