Billy Dwayne “Benson” Hale, 72, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at his home in Cabool.

He was born Nov. 12, 1943, in Waynesville, son of James William and Dorothy Fern Vaughn Hale.

He lived most of his life around Success and Licking. He served in the Navy. He was an avid horseman, winning many ribbons and trophies.

He loved fishing, hunting and camping on the river with his favorite dog, “B.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather, Mack Benson; a son, Tracy; and a daughter, Charlene.

Survivors include eight sons, Troy, Tim, Tony, Billy, Dennis, Brad, Kevin and Calvin; five daughters, Terri, Denise, Mae, Janetta and Daylene; a sister, Beverly McKinnon; a brother, Dusty Benson; a special friend, Patricia Turner; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.

A memorial service is noon Saturday, Sept. 24, at Faith & Hope Church on Varvel Road. His body was donated to the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. Arrangements were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
