Donald “Don” Nelson Johnson, 69, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at St. James Veterans Home.

He was born April 11, 1947, in Bonne Terre, son of Forrest Johnson and Maxine Womble.

He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a jet engine mechanic. He was a lifetime member of the Licking VFW Post 6337. He was also a mason.

He worked at the mines at Sullivan before working 22 years as a correctional officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections.

He loved to trout fish and spent many hours on the Current River and at Montauk. He enjoyed spending time with friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery; and a stepson, Justin Harvill.

Survivors include his wife, Julia; a brother, Terry of Arizona; a sister, Lynda McCorkle of Park Hills; three children, Don of Valley Park, Matt of Bonne Terre and Missey of Doniphan; and a stepson, Nathan Harvill of Tulsa, Okla.

Memorial services were Saturday, Sept. 17, at Fox Funeral Home with Pastor Eric McConnell officiating. Inurnment was in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.
