Elsa C. Richardson, 103, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at Mountain View Health Care.

She was born Nov. 6, 1912, in Summersville, daughter of Albert W. and Rebecca E. Young Wuertley. She and Charles “Charley” Richardson were married June 21, 1937.

She and her husband, Charley, lived most of their married life in Summersville, where they operated a family farm. She was a teacher for over 42 years. She taught in one-room schools in her yearly years of teaching at Oakside, Hartshorn, Kell and Griffith. She finished her teaching career in Summersville in 1983.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Summersville.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and being outside.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charley; and three brothers, Robert, Howard and Irvin.

Survivors include a son, Harold Richardson of Summersville; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and other family members.

Services were Saturday, Sept. 3 at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.
