An archery grant from the Missouri Department of Conservation has provided bows, arrows and training to Houston Middle School. Archery will be incorporated into the physical education classes at HMS.

ALL-DISTRICT CHOIR MEMBERS

Five Houston High School students were named to the all-district honors choir Saturday. Earning the honor in a district that covers West Plains, Springfield and Bolivar were: Elizabeth Scott, Summer Floyd, Lucas Bailey, Jaekan Moss and Lance Smith.

Other HHS students who auditioned were: Phorona Thomas, Vanessa Kirkwood, Marley Stoops, Laura Monks, Lily Martindale, Demi Creek, Bailey Moore, Leah Otte, Adryanna Kirn, Gracie Sullins, William Wilson, John Wallace and Johnny Duarte.

HMS STUDENT COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES

Houston Middle School recently announced 26 students as student council representatives for the 2016-’17 school year.

• Sixth grade: Dakota James, Delanie Rowland, Lilly Case, Riley Terry, Isabella Bourgain, Carl Fitzgerald, Mackenzie Bryan, Natalee Koch, Karley Drake, Andy Durham and Katie Chipps.

• Seventh grade: Ellie Locke, Hunter McKinney, Alyssa Arvin, Rhyse Holder and Ashleigh Loman.

• Eighth grade: Brook Ozier, Hannah Sawyer, Angel Fitzgerald, Danielle Walker, Jacina Crockett, Austin Bressie, Emily Scott, Amelia McKinney, Gabriella Hicks and Anna Haley.
