The Houston volleyball team is discovering success in conference play.

The Lady Tigers won their third match –– and second in the South Central Association –– with a 25-23, 25-23 home victory Tuesday against Thayer inside Hiett Gymnasium.

Houston senior Alyssa Hayes blocks a kill attempt in the first set Tuesday. Hayes had four blocks in the Lady Tigers’ win.

HHS has won two of its last three matches following a 1-21 start to the season.

“We still have some things we can do better,” Lady Tigers coach Loran Richardson said, “but we are really starting to hit our stride going into districts.”

Senior Alyssa Hayes led HHS with three kills and four blocks. Chloe Hunninghake had four assists and Sevanna Rowland had a team-high three aces.

Houston concludes its regular season with Senior Night on Thursday against Winona. The Lady Tigers face Licking at 4 p.m. Monday in the first round of districts.

JUNIOR VARSITY: The JV Lady Tigers had 17 kills and five aces en route to a 25-13, 25-18 win Tuesday against Thayer. It was the team’s fifth win of the year.

“It was great to get two wins last night,” Richardson said.
