Murl William Johnson, 87, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at NHC Healthcare.
He was born April 6, 1929, in Antioch, Ark., son of William Otis Johnson and Mollie Rachel Benton. He and Edna Mae “Boone” Johnson were married Nov. 3, 1948, in Piggot, Ark.
He worked as a carpenter and millwright for H.B. Deal Construction Co. He was also a self-employed grain farmer.
He attended Hilltop Holiness in Willow Springs. When his family moved to West Plains, he attended Calvary Church as long as his health permitted.
He was preceded in death by two children, Linda Payne and Terry Johnson; two grandchildren; his parents; a brother, Leonard “LJ” Johnson; and two sisters, Ruth Baker and Hazel Robinson.
Survivors include three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine Jones of Cahokia, Ill., and Shelby Jene Mansur of Little Rock, Ark.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Services were Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Danny Judd officiating. Burial was in Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
