To the editor:

On behalf of the Texas County Republican Committee, please accept a great big “thank you” to all who went out to vote last Tuesday in Texas County to help sweep the county, state and presidential offices with Republicans.

Thank you, too, to the contested Republican candidates and their foot soldiers for their dedication and hard work. Thank you to the owner of the Republican Headquarters building in Houston and to Shell and Casey for their part in working with us to have an operable headquarters and a sincere and grateful thank you to everyone who volunteered their own time there to hand out campaign materials and answer questions.

A special thank you to Doyle and Treena Heiney and Charlie Dickinson who were challenged more than any of us could have imagined to stay on top of the demand for “anything Trump” — and we sincerely apologize to those who didn’t get the signs, flags, bumper stickers, buttons or caps they wanted. The enthusiasm was amazing to witness and never wavered.

It was a pleasure to work with Houston Herald in the design of the impressive half page ad that listed all the Republican candidates on the Texas County ballot that was published November 3 in their paper, the Cabool Enterprise, the Summersville Beacon and the Licking News. Thank you to everyone involved at each of the newspapers.

As the newly elected candidates prepare to begin a new term, we wish them the very best, believing they are the kind of “civil servants” who will work hard for the betterment of our country and our communities by their reasoned decisions, actions, and if legislators, their votes. In spite of what we know some seem to think, Republican ideals are American ideals and we Republicans want all citizens to be the best they can be, recognizing that success and happiness in life isn’t guaranteed by the government but providing the tools, such as a good education, strong families and communities and Christian values that build character and wisdom to help them succeed while taking care of those who cannot care for themselves, should be a goal we can all agree with.

Using words from Francis Scott Key’s “Star Spangled Banner,” may we all work together to continue to be “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

God bless you all and God bless America.

DIANE KRANTZ, CHAIR OF TEXAS

COUNTY REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE
