Beulah Ethel Smith Bryant, 89, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, in Springfield.
She was born Sept. 24, 1927, daughter of Homer Albert and Ethel Winnie Belew Smith. She and George David Bryant were married March 23, 1947. He passed away in March 2010.
She grew up near Casto Valley in Shannon County with seven siblings. She had a variety of jobs after graduating from Summersville High School. She was a secretary in the Summersville superintendent’s office and spent some time in St. Louis working at a photo lab.
She and her husband, George, both worked in Craig’s Chevrolet Garage, where he was a parts manager and she was a bookkeeper. They lived just a few blocks from the garage with their small growing family. They loved working on the family farm together. They purchased Summerville Auction, which had been in her family for many years prior.
After her husband passed away, she moved to an apartment at the Montclair Senior Living Community.
She loved spending time with her family, cooking and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents; her sister, Wanda; and two brothers, Lawrence and Ernest.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Whiteis of Springfield and Betty Wojnowski of Montgomery, Ill.; a son, Steve Mathes of Rolla; and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
Services were Monday, Dec. 5, at Bradford Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Baylock and Jourdian Bagby officiating. Burial was in Summersville City Cemetery.
