Graveside services: Wednesday, Dec. 7, in Stark Cemetery in Plato

Marjorie Camilla Fulks was born Sept. 11, 1935, at Plato, Mo. Marjorie was the youngest child of John Sherman Fulks and Lina Mae Royster. Paternal grandparents were John Monroe Fulks and Laura Nevada Lee. Maternal grandparents were William Wallace Royster and Ellen McClannahan.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents; a sister, Bonnie Fulks Willhite; a brother; Dale Fulks; an infant sister, Freida Fulks; a sister, Betty Joe Fulks Nipper; her son, Anthony Lee (Tony) Bates; a granddaughter, Amanda Dawn Stenger; and a step-grandson, Justin Duane Gracy.

Marjorie married Leroy A. Bates in 1953 and to this union was born Donna Sue Bates Stenger, Anthony Lee (Tony) Bates and Patti Ann Bates Niebruegge. In 1973, they divorced.

In 1982, she married James Franklin Gracy. She leaves behind her husband, James of the home; two daughters, Donna and Patti; a stepdaughter, Elaine Gracy Kelley; a stepson, Dennis Gracy; six grandchildren, Carla Stenger Randall, Brandi Niebruegge Couch, Jerod Kelley, James Gracy, Kelley Niebruegge and Jeremy Niebruegge; four great-grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister, Vivian Smith, and one sister-in-law, Deana Fulks; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marjorie was a homemaker raising her family as best as she could and enjoyed every minute of it. She loved playing the piano; teaching herself how to play. She spent many hours playing, singing, and listening to gospel and country music. She spent many hours working on the genealogy of her family taking several lines back to the 1600s. She started working on this in 1966 and worked on it the rest of her life. She enjoyed meeting all those distant cousins. She loved to read and had an extensive library.

Marjorie was saved at the age of 13 at the Plato Baptist Church. Five of Marjorie’s Lee relations were charter members of the Plato Baptist Church when it was organized in 1883.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stover at the time of her death.

Graveside services were 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the Stark Cemetery in Plato with Rev. Phillip McGuire officiating. Arrangements are under the care of the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.
