Sales tax revenue increased in 2016 in Houston, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Sales tax revenue in Houston was up about 2 percent last year over 2015, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total from a  one cent sales tax was $733,127, up nearly $13,000 from the prior year and about $34,385 from 2014.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each contributed about $178,558 each last year.
