Virginia “Jennie” Fay Farrow Brightman, 87, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 17, 1929, in Hartshorn, son of Ernest and Lillie Fay Golden Farrow.
She was of the Pentecostal faith. In her early years, she attended Hartshorn Assembly of God Church, where her mom, Lillie, was pastor.
She began her working career in St. Louis during WWII making booby traps. She then moved back home to Hartshorn, where she owned and operated the store at the junction of highways K and KK.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. She loved to spend time with her daughter, Marilyn, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; a son, Ernie Neal Brawley; a brother, Kenneth Farrow; and a sister, Loeta Thiesmann.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Sewell of Raymondville; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
Services were Thursday, Jan. 26, at Bradford Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Bethel Cemetery.
