Houston coach Jim Moore and the Lady Tigers have won four straight games.

A big third quarter propelled the Houston Lady Tigers to their fourth consecutive win and into the championship game of the Thayer Winter Classic.

HHS outscored Willow Springs 28-12 in the eight minutes after halftime Tuesday night to wipe away a six-point deficit. The Lady Tigers won 68-61.

The win lifts Houston (8-6) into Friday’s championship game against top seed and tournament host Thayer, the sixth-ranked team in Class 2. Tipoff is 8:30 p.m.

HHS senior Abby Casper led Houston with 29 points. Jaydin Ramsey added 12.

Devin Perkins scored 19 of her 29 points in the first half for Willow Springs. Kianna Ruenemich had 11

HHS trailed 32-26 at the half before coming to life in the third.

Casper scored 13 points in the third quarter as Houston took the lead for good. She hit two triples during the rally and Ramsey made another. Junior forward Kaitlyn Root scored all six of her points in the period.

The win was the second of the season for the Lady Tigers against Willow Springs. Houston won the first meeting 44-41 in the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament. The teams meet for a third time Jan. 30 in Willow Springs.
