A late run lifted the Houston Lady Tigers to another conference victory.
HHS scored 12 unanswered points to end the third quarter and begin the fourth to pull away from Mountain Grove for a 52-44 victory Monday night inside Hiett Gymnasium.
The Lady Tigers (12-13, 4-2 South Central Association) trailed by four points before going on the spurt that gave them the lead for good.
“At times in the second half, I thought we looked as good as we have all year,” Houston coach Jim Moore said.
Senior Alyssa Hayes led HHS with 15 points, including going 7-for-8 at the free-throw line. Jaydin Ramsey and Kaitlyn Root added 10 points apiece.
On Friday, the Lady Tigers fell behind by double digits in the opening quarter en route to a 63-43 defeat to state-ranked Norwood.
Ramsey led Houston with 10 points as the only player in double figures.
Norwood (21-3) is ranked fifth in Class 2.
JUNIOR VARSITY: Chloe Hunninghake scored eight points to lead the JV Lady Tigers past Mountain Grove 17-13 Monday night.
On Friday, Hunninghake scored 11 and Carly Crawford had eight in the JV Lady Tigers’ 35-14 win against Norwood. Crawford had a pair of 3-pointers.
Both games were only two quarters.
