Emmett Eugene Thomure, 81, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017, at West View Nursing Center in West Plains.
He was born Oct. 30, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, son of Emmett and Ruth Emma Tracy Thomure. He and Roberta A. Houser were married Jan. 12, 1955.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and playing the harmonica. He loved golfing most of all.
He served in the Army. He was a heavy equipment operator, truck driver, railroad brakeman, Howell County Chaplin and minister. He was often found in the prisons ministering to others.
He was preceded in death a son, Richard Thomure; two grandsons; a granddaughter; a brother, Delmar Thomure; and three sisters, Beulah Lollar, Audrey Meyers and Shirley Stanford.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta of West Plains; his children, Mike Thomure, Sherry Quibodeaus and Jeff Thomure of Summersville, Brad Thomure of Chaffee, Sheila Balsano of Gamaliel, Ark., Robin Young of Mountain View, Sandy Ledbetter of Caufield and Karen Safranek and Steven Thomure of West Plains; 47 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Overmyer of Kennewick, Wash.; and a host of many other family members and friends.
Services were Tuesday, March 7, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Steelman officiating. Burial was in Summersville City Cemetery.
