An inmate who escaped Wednesday morning while working with the Missouri Department of Transportation was captured without incident.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Jason Butler, 36, was spotted by a local firefighter and apprehended by the patrol at 11:23 a.m.. He has been missing since he left the MoDOT crew around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday near Willow Springs.
The South Central Correctional Center said Butler was returned there at 12:38 p.m.
Butler is serving a five-year sentence for delivery/attempt to deliver/possess/deposit/conceal a controlled substance at a correctional facility, city or county jail or private prison/jail from Buchanan County.
