James Randall Williams, 73, passed away March 19, 2017 at his home in Strafford.
He was born Sept. 12, 1943, in Poplar Bluff, son of Henry and Clella Mabry Williams.
He was the oldest of four boys. He grew up in Poplar Bluff and graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1962.
He joined the Army and received his training in Fort Benning, Ga. He was stationed in Korea, Germany and served in the 101st Airborne. He was awarded a service medal as a sharpshooter.
He moved to St. Louis and worked as a manager for various companies.
He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden and his dog, Gypsy. He also enjoyed cooking.
He loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian; a brother, Archie; two sons Tony and Danny; and a daughter, Teresa.
Survivors include two brothers, Jerry of Imperial and Ronnie of Edwards; five sons, Thomas of Strafford, Michael of Huntsville, Alab., Samuel of Rosalie, Alab., and Gary and Andy of Poplar Bluff; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were Thursday, March 23, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
