Manuel Blankenship, 80, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, following a long illness.
He was born April 23, 1936, in Hazelton, son of James Calvin and Agnes Rachel Lawson “Skidmore” Blankenship.
He and Sylvia Shepherd were married July 18, 1959.
After his mother passed away when he was two, he was raised by his father on the Piney River.
Manuel spent a lot of time with his dad fishing. He enjoyed deer hunting, gardening and yard work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Terry Lynn Blankenship; a sister, Marie Murphy; three half-brothers, Franklin Skidmore, Chester Skidmore and Albert Skidmore; a half-sister, Naomi Skidmore; and a sister, Freda Blankenship.
Survivors include is wife, Sylvia Blankenship of the home; a son, Stacey Blankenship; three grandsons; a granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Maydean Murphy; a brother, Fredrick Blankenship; and several other family members.
Services were Friday, Feb. 24, at Fox Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Gorman officiating. Burial was in Craddock Cemetery.
