Frances “Alberta” Skiles, 84, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, at Brooke Haven Nursing Home in West Plains.
She was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Alton, Ill., daughter of Solomon D. Lewis and Izora House Lewis Ebert. She and Melvin D. Skiles were married July 22, 1950
She attended school in Alton, Ill., and Joy.
Early in her life she made a commitment to Christ. She was a member of the Boone Creek Baptist Church. She was active as the kitchen manager and member of the WMU and quilted quilts for the Children’s Home. She made quilts for burnouts. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary Post # 559.
She was a seamstress at Rawlings’ Sporting Goods Factory for more than 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin D. Skiles Sr.; a brother, Solomon D. Lewis, Jr.; and a sister, Ruby Lewis.
Survivors include a brother, Donald Ebert of Highland, Calif.; a daughter, Sally A. Holland of Licking; a son, Melvin Dewain Skiles Jr. of Licking; multiple grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were Friday, April 14, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wayne Carrigan officiating. Burial will be in Boone Creek Cemetery.
