Houston High School senior Trenton Best won the 110-meter hurdles last Thursday at the Zizzer Relays in West Plains.

The next-highest finishes for the HHS boys were Aidan Sawyer and the 4×100 relay team both placing fourth. Members of the relay were Noah Moseley, Evan Richardson, Michael Clayton and Paydon Dixon.

The HHS girls’ 4×100 relay — Kameron Hall, Abby Casper, Melody Buse and Tori McCloud — had a third-place finish. Casper also placed fourth in the 100 meters.

Last Tuesday, the HHS track team competed in the Salem Invitational with more than 20 athletes in each event.

The Tigers’ 4×200 relay team of Tristan Leier, Moseley, Richardson and Michael Clayton finished third.

Moseley was fourth in the 110 hurdles and Sawyer placed fourth in the shotput.

Clayton was sixth in the 100 meters.

Casper won the 100 meters and was second in the 200 meters for the HHS girls.

The 4×100 relay team of Casper, Buse, Emily Shea and McCloud won its event.

The 4×400 relay team of McCloud, Kelly Hubbs, Shea and Buse placed fourth.

McCloud had a sixth-place finish in the 300 hurdles and was seventh in the 200 hurdles.

“This was our first medal meet of the season, and it was full of tough competitors,” HHS track coach Tori Richardson said. “Many of my athletes set new personal records and rose to the challenge. I am very proud of how hard they are working and their determination to start changing the culture of Houston athletics.”
