Alvin Donald “Don” Ellis, 89, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, in Houston.
He was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Licking, son of Kenneth Paul and Myra Ellen Keeney Ellis. He and Rose Mary McElhinney were married in 1981. She passed away in January 2008.
After graduating from Licking High School, he became a truck driver. He traveled through all 48 continental states and even drove to Alaska. He retired in his mid-70s.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Licking.
He enjoyed talking to other ham radio operators on his radio equipment.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose Mary; and a son, Kenneth.
Survivors include a daughter, “Elizabeth” Kay Greer, of Lee’s Summit; four stepchildren; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; seven step great-great grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
Graveside memorial services are 2 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in Licking Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Miller officiating. Services are under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
