Young turkey hunters killed 63 birds in Texas County during the two-day youth season that ended Sunday.
The total included 52 adult gobblers and 11 juvenile gobblers.
The kill was enough for the county to place 10th in the state. The top counties were: Franklin with 118 killed, Callaway with 91 and Gasconade with 87.
According to preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation, young turkey hunters harvested 4,060 birds during the 2017 spring youth season, April 8 and 9.
Hunters checked 4,167 turkeys during last year’s youth weekend.
