Three members of the Houston High School baseball team were recognized for standout seasons with selections to the all-conference team.
Junior shortstop Gavin Alston was named to the South Central Association second team as an infielder. Tyler Burris and Sterling Jackson received honorable mention.
Alston batted a team-high .333 with a .447 on-base percentage as the Tigers’ leadoff hitter. He scored a team-high 19 runs and led HHS by drawing 13 walks. He was second on the team with 17 stolen bases.
Burris, a senior outfielder, was second on the team with a .327 batting average and led the team with a .486 on-base percentage. His 17 runs scored and 14 RBIs both ranked second on the team. He stole a team-leading 22 bases in 24 attempts.
Jackson, a freshman infielder and designated hitter, batted .317 in his first varsity season to rank third on the team. He led the team with 19 RBIs and five extra-base hits.
Mountain Grove’s Brock Coffman was named the SCA player of the year. Salem’s Phillip Karr was the coach of the year.
