Billie Jean Pierce Campbell, 89, passed away Monday, May 3, 2017, at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit.

She was born Oct. 9, 1927, daughter of Leonard Lee and Gladys House Pierce.

She spent her childhood living in the Fairview and Bado communities, attending the one-room Alice schoolhouse as well as Houston Schools.

She sang with the gospel group The Weatherfords, whom she remained friends with throughout the years.

She resided a significant portion of her life in Kansas City with her husband, Richard Paul Campbell.

She operated a hair salon in Grandview. After retiring, she transformed her salon into a studio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; two daughters, Linda French and Reshard Hall; a granddaughter, Megan Hall and three brothers, Avery Aulton, Armel Delton and Raymond Lee.

Survivors include three grandchildren; a brother, Billy Pierce; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Monday, May 8, in Bado Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Brown officiating. Services were under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
