The Houston City Council met Monday at city hall.

Members of the Houston City Council held its second closed meeting Monday in two weeks.

Mayor Don Tottingham reported Tuesday that the council took no votes during a session that lasted about an hour.

City Administrator Larry Sutton’s last day in city hall will be at the end of the month after four members of the council voted May 1 to remove him from the position he has held for about 10 years.

According to newly released minutes of its May 8 session, the council heard from Steve Hutcheson, who was elected as an alderman in 1983 and served in the capacity for eight years. He was later elected mayor in 1999 and served 12 years in that role.

He highlighted the responsibilities of the council office and the affects it has on individuals and the city. He described accomplishments made in the city and urged support for Sutton, according to the minutes.
