Members of the Houston City Council on Monday accepted a bid for the community’s annual asphalt program.
APAC had the low bid of $67.95 a ton and no more than $11,000 for any milling work.
In other matters, members:
—Elected Alderman Donnie Wilson as mayor-pro tem on a 4-1 vote — with Shelia Walker dissenting. She had earlier moved to name long-time councilman Joe Honeycutt to the post. That motion died due to a lack a second. Honeycutt was absent.
—Heard Mayor Don Tottingham table making his annual appointments until the May 15 meeting.
—Held the first reading of an ordinance required to fund the city’s bus system.
—Authorized the purchase of a backup pump for the Houston wastewater treatment plan. The cost is $14,800.
—Will hire Jay York to paint three hangars at the Houston Memorial Airport if the work can be completed within 60 days.
—Adjourned into a lengthy closed session. No details have been released.
