Houston resident Primrose Casey is one of several recent recipients of Missouri Lt. Gov. Mike Parson’s Senior Service Awards.

Casey is one of more than 60 seniors from around the state who were honored for their activism within the community. Rep. Robert Ross attended a ceremony April 24 at the State Capitol along with Sen. Mike Cunningham to honor her and the other award recipients.

“Primrose is a consummate citizen advocate and activist in the community,” said Ross, R-Yukon. “I am so thrilled she is receiving recognition for all the work she does to improve our community. I want to thank her for her hard work, and sincerely congratulate her for being one of the recipients of this prestigious award.”

The award acknowledges senior citizens who provide their communities with at least 40 hours of community service per year.

Ross also presented Casey with an official House Resolution recognizing her service as a volunteer at Texas County Memorial Hospital and as a board member with the Texas County Farm Bureau. The resolution also points out that Casey has been active in numerous other organizations including the TMCH Auxiliary, the Houston Community Betterment and Arts Council Y.O.U.T.H. program, the Southwest Pregnancy Care Center, the Houston Community Kitchen and the Texas County Food Pantry.

Casey made the trip to Jefferson City with her two sons, John Casey and Patrick Casey, and Patrick’s wife Marcia.
