Heavy rains that led to historical flooding in the area impacted sports teams at Houston Schools.
The HHS baseball team’s game at Hartville was canceled Monday due to the poor field conditions from inclement weather. It was the third consecutive game postponed due to weather. The Tigers’ home matchups Thursday with Licking and Friday against St. James were also called off.
Houston is scheduled to play Heritage (Ill.) Thursday at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, which is also dealing with flooding issues. Portions of Interstate 44 are closed and I-55 was expected to shut down Tuesday night.
The Tigers’ game is immediately after the Major League Baseball matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers. The first pitch is 12:45 p.m.
The HHS track team’s conference meet Monday at Salem was postponed one day until Tuesday afternoon.
The HMS track meet was also pushed back one day. The competition will be held Wednesday in Willow Springs.
