Now under construction is a new two-story dormitory being built by the Texas County Baptist Association at the Baptist Camp near Simmons on Piney River. The Rev. Kirby Fletcher, country superintendent of associational missions, said camp this year will be open to children of other denominations.

Texas County Memorial Hospital has been declared eligible by the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare for the Medicare program.

Sheriff George Foster is investigating a fire in a multi-apartment building north of Cabool. Authorities said the building appeared to have caught fire in five different locations, according to Deputy Johnny Vandiver.

Two Houston High School seniors, Larry Taylor and Jim Holt, are attending Boy’s State at Warrensburg. At Success, it was reported that several persons attended the baseball game in St. Louis. Among them were Mr. and Mrs. Lance Neal, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Garrett and Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Pittman.

The Oak Hill Correspondent reported: “We have been informed the advertisement for bids on the water lines out this way will soon be ready. That is good news.”
