Professional Monster Trucks and their drivers put on shows in front of sizable crowds Friday and Saturday in Houston.
The Traxxas Monster Truck Destruction Tour performed in the newly renovated arena at the chamber fairgrounds on North U.S. 63. The chamber’s annual fireworks show followed the performance.
Area first responders were honored and called to appear in front of the crowd before the Saturday show.
Five trucks competed during the event: Skully, Craniac, Xmaxx, Bad to the Bone and Sykotic. Another truck – Tattooed – was on hand as a “ride-along,” allowing attendees to get in and ride for a fee.
Upgrades finished prior to the event at the arena and the surrounding grounds included new bleacher benches (donated by the Durham Co.), new lighting, a new press box, an improved arena surface and an improved surface to the fairgrounds entrance and exit road.
Discussion is already taking place for an encore performance in Houston in 2018.
