To the editor:
Effective June 30, there were thousands of MAPD/PDP members across the ShowMe region that lost their MO RX SPAP benefit program. The loss of SPAP eligibility/coverage creates a one-time SEP (Special Election Period) that gives beneficiaries the option to investigate other MAPD/PDP programs to best suit their needs.
The generic letter was released to beneficiaries on June 16, and explains that the beneficiaries will lose coverage on June 30, and lists additional phone numbers to call about eligibility for Medicaid, PPA and Rx Outreach for future Rx assistance. There seems to be no instructions on the letter for the beneficiary about SEP eligibility and they may be unaware that they have additional options available to them for this period of time.
This is a great time to review a current MAPD/PDP plan and evaluate to see if another plan might generate some cost savings. Participants of the MO RX have 60 days from the June 30 loss date to review or change their current MAPD/PDP. After this date, you will have to wait for the annual election period, Oct. 15-Dec. 7, to review or change your plan.
