Four home games and five on the road await the Houston High School football team in 2017.
The Tigers kick off a new campaign Aug. 18 when they travel to Ash Grove. They play their first home game the following Friday against St. James.
The conference campaign begins the next week on Sept. 1 as HHS hosts Salem. Houston will attempt to snap a 36-game losing skid in the matchup of the teams.
The rest of the schedule includes road games at Cabool, Thayer, Willow Springs and Liberty. HHS will host Ava –– homecoming on Sept. 22 –– and Mountain Grove.
The Tigers’ coaching staff will have a different look following the offseason departures of defensive coordinator Ken Cooperman and offensive coordinator Vince McCrosky.
Head coach Eric Sloan will take over the offensive play calling duties and lead the offensive and defensive backs. Shane Wright, a new addition to the staff, is the defensive coordinator.
Rodney Preheim was moved from the middle school to high school staff and will lead the offensive and defensive lines. Boulder McKinney remains on the staff as the wide receivers and outside linebackers coach.
Todd McKinney and Vince McKee, a new addition, will coach the middle school teams.
