The Houston High School volleyball team earned its first victory of the 2017 season Saturday in the Branson Tournament.
The Lady Tigers defeated Clinton 25-20, 25-17 in pool play while going 1-3 on the day. HHS lost to Summit Christian Academy, Branson and Rockwood Summit.
“It felt really good to get a win early in the season,” HHS coach Loran Richardson said. “Hopefully that gives us some confidence and momentum going forward.”
Branson and Rockwood are both Class 4 schools.
“All the teams were tough competition,” Richardson said. “We played them all close for at least one set and did some really good things.”
Junior Kennedy Campbell led the Lady Tigers (1-5) with eight kills and five blocks in the tournament. Alexis Choate had nine assists and Melody Buse had a team-best 35 digs.
