James David “J.D.” Sisk, 90, of Licking, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at Licking Park Manor.

He was born April 16, 1927, son of Enos S. and Alva Nickless Sisk.

After attending Licking Schools, he graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He then worked for a short time for other pharmacies in nearby towns before in 1962 taking ownership of Sisk Pharmacy in Licking upon the death of his father. He and his wife, Judy, owned and operated the business for several years. He was head pharmacist and she managed the rest of the business.

Upon retiring in the mid 1990s, he received the “Bowl of Hygeia” award from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy recognizing a long and dependable career of service and dedication to his community.

He served on the Licking school board for 20 years and was a member of the Latimer Masonic Lodge and the Lions Club in Licking.

He was a member of Licking United Methodist Church, where he served as president of the church board for many years.

He loved to travel, play golf and fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Luella “Kathleen” Alley and Elaine (Herman) Eslinger; and two infant sisters, Janice and Vivian Sisk.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Judy A. Skelton Sisk; two children, Annette Shockley of St. Louis and Roby Sisk of Houston; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other family members.

Memorial services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Fox Chapel with Pastor Gary Carter and Dave Barnes officiating. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time. Burial with military honors will be in Licking Cemetery.
