Military veteran

Jimmie Green Splechter, 87, passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at Licking Park Manor.

He was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Houston, son of Joseph Albert and Verda May Green Splechter.

He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was chief engineer on a large tug boat. He was honorably discharged March 6, 1953, as a corporal.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator running a bulldozer for many years.

He enjoyed fishing, trapping and playing his Martin guitar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl, Harry and an infant brother; and two sisters, Margaret and Jewell.

Survivors include a brother, Bob Splechter of Sandoval, Ill.; and a sister, Bonnie Hart of Columbia.

Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Evans Funeral Home. Services follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Russ Stigall officiating. Burial will be in
