Kameron Hall’s first career home run almost didn’t happen.
“I just about called the bunt,” Houston softball coach Brent Hall said, “but I thought, ‘Let’s see how she swings it today.”
Kameron Hall’s three-run homer highlighted a big offensive day Thursday for the Lady Tigers as they routed Alton 14-0 in five innings on Carter Field.
HHS had 13 hits – led by senior Madison Lawson’s three hits and four RBIs from Hall – to improve to 2-0 heading into Saturday’s Houston Tournament.
“We hit the ball like I knew we were capable,” Brent Hall said. “That’s what I anticipated us doing this year.”

The offensive barrage was highlighted by Kameron Hall’s first-inning drive that carried over the left-field. The homer capped a six-run first inning as the Lady Tigers took control from the get-go.
As his daughter rounded the bases, Brent Hall said he was able to briefly enjoy the moment as a parent.
“That was a heck of a memory,” he said. “It was a pretty proud moment for me.”
Especially since he didn’t keep it from happening.
“I’m glad I didn’t call for a bunt,” he said.
Kameron Hall, who also doubled, and Madison Curtis had two hits apiece. Lawson scored three times.
HHS junior pitcher Emily Roberts scattered three hits over five innings for the complete game victory. She struck out three and walked none.
“Emily pitched great,” Hall said. “She didn’t necessarily get a lot of strikeouts, but she was getting weak ground balls and popups.”
