PTO ANNOUNCES RAFFLE, EVENTS TO BENEFIT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The Houston Elementary PTO is hosting a tailgate raffle and other events to raise funds for school supplies for a new supply closet to be donated to the district for children who need supplies.
The group is giving away a Coleman 70-quart extreme marine five-day cooler, two Ozark Trail 30-ounce double wall tumblers and tailgate goodies. Tickets are $1 apiece or six for $5. They are available through board members April Arnold, Darci Malam, Rachel Kelly and Sheena Painter.
A PTO night will be held Friday (Aug. 4) at Subway in Houston, with 10 percent of food sales going to the organization. On Sunday (Aug. 6), a school supply drive will be from noon until 4 p.m. at the Houston Walmart.
The drawing will be at halftime of the Houston High School football home opener Aug. 25. Tickets will be available through halftime of the game.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL FAIR ANNOUNCED
The Houston School District –– along with other organizations –– is hosting a back-to-school fair from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, inside the elementary gym. Backpacks and free school supplies are available while supplies last.
