Members of the Texas County Commission have re-appointed a member to the Texas County Library board.
Joni Appleton of Summersville was reappointed to a term that will expire June 30, 2020.
In other actions, which are included in recently released minutes:
•Acknowledged the resignation of employee Kailin Cooper.
•Acknowledged the hiring of Tara Hutsell in the recorder of deeds office.
•Reviewed the hiring of three full-time jailers, Justin Covey, Michael Wallace and Ethan Farley. A part-time jailer hire is Caroline Garner.
•Heard a bid totaled $9,250 from Scanning Documents to scan records.
•Reviewed and approved an invoice from Adkins Election Services for election equipment totaling $68,399.
•Inspected the Texas County Justice Center and approved modifications requested by the Texas County public administrator.
•Decided to seek bids for a new telephone system for Texas County government.
•Held closed meetings with Texas County Sheriff James Sigman twice on July 26 and again Aug. 2.
•Heard an update from Sigman related to rehabilitating the jail following an inmate-set fire in late June. Progress was reported going faster than expected, and a damaged portion should be functional soon.
•Reviewed and approved invoices from Texas County Memorial Hospital for sheriff’s employee Jennifer Tomaszewski, who sustained smoke inhalation. The commission said she was later named jail supervisor, but was later placed on a paid leave by the sheriff.
•Met with Surveyor Chuck Manier concerning a state program that allows the county to establish monument corners, which results in greater ease of conducting surveys in the county.Â
