There is a lot going on around the world right now. What can our little community do besides be thankful it is not happening here? The Houston library has a bin set up to take donations for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Houston Helping Houston is being led by Rebecca Smith. She will be taking a 15-foot trailer Oct. 1 to the Corpus Christi Food Bank to drop off the donations collected.
The library is proud to host one of the donation sites. Donations of nonperishable food items, toiletries, supplies for babies such as diapers, cleaning supplies and bottled water are all being accepted. To sweeten the deal, the library will have a $10 Taco Bell gift card up for grabs. Anyone who donates items to Houston Helping Houston will have their name entered in to the drawing. We will draw the winner Oct. 1. Persons with questions, contact Rebecca at 573-889-9703.
Cabool: Cabool is closed for renovations. We appreciate the community’s support and understanding during this absence.
Licking: Storytime with Miss Flo has moved to 4 p.m. Thursdays.
Houston: Book lovers, are you looking for a group to share your thoughts on books with? Join us at Houston for book club on the first Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. There are snacks and great conversations with others who share the love of reading.
Summersville: September is Library Card Sign Up Month. For every patron that comes in to get a new library card, they will be entered into a drawing for a book bag filled with goodies.
