Larry James Allen, 57, passed away Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at Mercy St. Francis Hospital.
He was born Aug. 5, 1960, in Houston, son of Maurice and Lucille Allen. He and Brenda Gail Shelton Allen were married Sept. 15, 1979.
He graduated from Summersville High School in 1978.
He was saved and baptized at the age of 10. He was an ordained deacon and active church member. He taught Sunday School for several years. He loved the Lord.
He enjoyed buying, selling, fixing and driving vehicles. He could often be found running his bulldozer. He enjoyed singing, fishing and reading the Bible. He loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda of the home; two children, Dustin James Allen and Stefanie Alison Thomas; five grandchildren; his mother Lucille; four siblings, Mike Allen, Connie Lightner, Gary Allen and Amy Adkison; and a host of other family members.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at Faith Baptist Church near Summersville with the Rev. Joe Lightner and the Rev. Paul Ordway officiating. Burial will be in Oakside Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
